Bye For Now…

Eeek! Drum roll please!

As some of you are probably aware, back in February 2020 Oriel Myrddin Gallery secured funding for a capital redevelopment… one pandemic and numerous lockdowns later, we’re extremely excited to announce that it’s actually happening!!

Work is expected to begin on the new OM in early August with the gallery hopefully set to reopen late August 2023.

This means that our last day at Oriel Myrddin Gallery will be Saturday 2 July.

It feels strange to think that we’ll be without a gallery for the next year, but we hope that you will join us on our journey and follow along with the many ups and downs there are sure to be! Starting next month, we will be keeping a diary to share with you about the redevelopments progress, the challenges we face going forward as well as offering up little glimpses of what you can expect from the new OM.

Many thanks to our friends over at Carmarthenshire Museum, Abergwili where we will be based for the next year. We are foreseeing many a lunch break being taken in their beautiful grounds!

We’re also looking forward to setting up our Artist Development Programme for early career artists, over the coming months. We would still really appreciate and value your input in shaping this programme via our survey here.

The creation of an enchanting exhibition with Clive Hicks-Jenkins is underway to welcome you all back in 2023. We’ll be sharing snippets of this as it comes together.

Interior images of King Street property by Julian McKenny – we’re making a solid argument to keep the pink and yellow combo but Catherine Spring is having none of it!
