Bonnie Grace
Bonnie Grace works across drawing, ceramics and printmaking, exploring objects that carry histories and patterns within them. Her practice is shaped by a lifelong fascination with antiques and commemorative ceramics, reimagined through her own hand. Beginning with continuous line drawings, she transforms these studies into clay forms, folding and pinching slabs as though they were paper. The resulting vessels shimmer with layered underglaze, ceramic pencil and lustre, drawing on traditional Welsh ceramics while speaking in a voice all her own.
For the Craft Trail, Bonnie has created four story jugs, each one carrying the weight of a Welsh tale. The fragile beauty of Blodeuwedd, conjured from flowers yet shadowed by betrayal; the loyalty and tragedy of Gelert, the faithful hound of legend; the drowned kingdom of Cantre’r Gwaelod, where bells are said still to toll beneath the sea; and the haunting winter ritual of the Mari Lwyd. Together, these pieces celebrate the enduring power of story, giving form to myth and memory through clay.
