Daisy Buckle

For the Craft Trail, Pembrokeshire-based maker and designer Daisy Buckle has created a hand-embroidered waistcoat shown in its deconstructed form. Treating the garment as her canvas, she covers it with stitches inspired by Clive Hicks-Jenkins’ retelling of Hansel and Gretel, echoing the playfulness and atmosphere of his artwork.

Sketches and test pieces shown alongside the work reveal her process, from first marks on paper to the final layers of embroidery. By repurposing fabric and filling it with colour and detail, Daisy brings her own language of craft to the tale, balancing storytelling with experimentation. The result is a piece that feels both familiar and surprising, an everyday object transformed into something theatrical and alive.
